Voices from Exhibitors

Companies that have exhibited at PLUG IN | Editorial share what makes the show valuable for their business.

□ Please tell us about your company.

Under the concept "Enrich Your Life," we import natural, organic, sustainable, and traditional products from around the world, and sell them primarily through wholesale.

□ What do you find appealing about PLUG IN | Editorial?

We have exhibited at large-scale trade shows such as those held at Tokyo Big Sight, and through them we secured sales channels with variety stores.
We exhibited at PLUG IN with the aim of developing new distribution channels, and were able to exchange business cards with many fashion and apparel companies we had never met before. Perhaps because PLUG IN has a long history in the fashion industry, many of the contacts we made were solid, reliable companies, which makes it appealing for channel development.
Given the nature of the industry, many companies in this field have offices around Shibuya and Ebisu, so we also feel the show's venue location is better than other exhibitions.
Displaying our products alongside fashion-related items gave them a different look than usual, allowing for a fresh presentation. We feel it also helped us discover new angles for our business.

□ What are your plans for the future?

We are looking to expand our product lineup along two axes. The first is expanding our categories — until now we focused mainly on cosmetics such as perfumes and body creams, but in recent years we have also started handling eco-friendly sponges, toothbrushes, and similar items.
The second is expanding the countries we source from. Until now we mainly dealt in products from Europe, such as France and Greece, but starting this year we have also begun sourcing new products from North America and Australia. We'd like to keep expanding into products that match the times, without being confined to our existing frameworks.

□ Please tell us about your company.

Under the concept "From food to health, from health to happiness...," Wakyu Seikatsusha wholesales products from companies that value quality ingredients and traditional production methods, and also sells original products under our private brand "KOSO STORE'S."

□ What do you find appealing about PLUG IN | Editorial?

I handle wholesale of processed foods while also building the branding of our own products.
By exhibiting at the show, we were able to meet customers in new sales channels, including lifestyle-industry companies that we had been looking to reach, and to develop new sales routes.
As a result, we signed a contract with a company for pop-up and test sales at a major commercial facility. We also have several companies with whom discussions are still ongoing.
Going forward, we will continue to reach out to the contacts we exchanged business cards with, including apparel companies.

□ What are your plans for the future?

Regardless of genre or sales location, we would like to keep increasing the number of partners carrying our products.
We would also like to increase the number of development projects for products that match the trends of the times and original products tailored to our clients' image.

□ Please tell us about your company.

"Double Face Tokyo," which plans and produces ladies' fashion, was founded in 1979 and celebrates its 44th anniversary this year. Since our founding, we have consistently focused on making clothing that isn't discarded the moment a trend ends, but that stays on-trend while being made as quality everyday wear that can be worn for a long time. To achieve this, we frequently use "kannuki" bar-tacking, a reinforced stitching technique, to make garments more durable, and all sewing is done in Japan, where the skill level is high. In addition, because we have avoided disposal and held back on overproduction for 44 years, we have been able to reduce CO2 emissions, contributing to carbon neutrality as well.

□ What do you find appealing about PLUG IN | Editorial?

We feel that the appeal of PLUG IN | Editorial lies in being able to connect with a wide variety of companies. For example, we connected with website planners, influencers, TV wardrobe cooperation, SHOWROOM, pop-up organizers, model agencies, and photographers, which broadened the scope of our business. Regarding our main goal of expanding wholesale outlets, we have started new business with Rakuten EC and stores in China, among others. We intend to keep developing new sales channels going forward.

□ What are your plans for the future?

We remain committed to "Made in Japan" manufacturing. Together with regional factories, we take responsibility for traceability, staying in constant contact with our factories so that the production and distribution process can be tracked at every stage. By continuing business with the same factories over the long term, we have built strong relationships of trust, allowing us to provide consistent production and safe, reliable products. Selling and purchasing at fair prices helps hold back excessive production. Curbing overproduction reduces environmental impact and also helps ensure that labor is not exploited. We will continue to work on our business over the long term in cooperation with stable suppliers.
