Introducing a new initiative, the "VR exhibition," at the October 2020 show

UPLOADED 13 OCTOBER, 2020

PLUG IN's October Show Will Also Go Virtual, With a VR Exhibition Starting in November

PLUG IN will run for three days from October 21 at Hikarie Hall. A total of 107 brands are taking part, including 74 first-time exhibitors (as of early October). Brands built around concepts of ethics and traceability stand out this time, and — reflecting more time spent at home — there are also many effortless, relaxed brands designed for comfortable everyday living. The cosmetics and fragrance area has also drawn its largest-ever lineup of exhibitors, letting visitors see brands with a high level of sensibility and quality, including buzzworthy CBD oils and Taiwanese cosmetics with striking package design.

As a new initiative this time, PLUG IN is introducing a VR (virtual reality) system. The VR exhibition uses dedicated equipment to shoot a panoramic capture of Hikarie Hall, PLUG IN's venue, recreating the real exhibition scenery on the web.

Visitors can freely browse the exhibition floor online, and by linking to a business-meeting Zoom session, PLUG IN can offer matching opportunities even after the show ends. It lets people who can't visit the venue in person — visitors from outside the region, for example — see the world and products of each booth as if they had actually walked the floor. Filming will take place during PLUG IN, with the results published on the website in mid-November.

The VR system is provided in partnership with Arcaito Inc., a company with an extensive track record in this field. Arcaito is also exhibiting a booth at the PLUG IN venue, and will take consultations from fashion-industry professionals interested in adopting VR.
