PLUG IN is strengthening its role as a business platform that goes beyond the trade show. In addition to fashion merchandise such as apparel, bags, and shoes, the next March show adds a "Business PR Exhibiting Plan" that lets companies showcase both tangible and intangible services in fields such as sales support, business consulting, logistics, technology, real estate, and web. This time we introduce "Oneday Work," exhibiting as Business PR at the March show.
Oneday Work is a wholly owned subsidiary of Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings established last October. It runs a platform that uses the internet and an app to connect "people who want to work single days or short hours" with "employers who want more flexible ways to secure staff."

The company's core business is providing job and job-seeker information; it does not offer employment placement or staffing services. In the two months since the app launched, it has recorded roughly 4,000 downloads and about 300 job listings.
The company was proposed through an internal open call at the Isetan Mitsukoshi Group ("Isetan Mitsukoshi Intrapreneur") and grew out of it. The team noticed that many former department-store staff — people who left the industry due to family circumstances, childcare, or caregiving — had built up strong sales and customer-service skills they were no longer able to use. The business took shape around the idea that helping this group, and others in a similar position beyond just former Isetan Mitsukoshi staff, achieve a better work-life balance could help address a real social issue.
A key feature of Oneday Work is that neither the worker nor the employer has to deal with cumbersome paperwork. Daily wages are capped at an amount below the threshold for withholding tax, and the app does not offer job search or placement services. Employment contracts and payroll procedures are all completed within the app. The fee employers pay the company is a fixed rate applied to the wages paid, with no setup fee or listing fee.
The company recommends the service for effective, targeted hiring — for example, covering a regular staff member's day off, filling a Saturday core-time shift, or bringing on help only for specific days or time slots such as e-commerce shipping days or gift-wrapping periods.
